The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says arrangements will be made for those killed by Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives in the 2020 budget.

The speaker made the announcement on Tuesday after a House plenary session.

He reiterated that additional laws will be passed by the House as part of attempts to strengthen the police department.

“We will get those whose lives were lost and during this budget process adequate provision will be made for compensation,” he said.

A minute of silence for those who lost their lives was also observed by the House.

Despite the disbandment of the police unit by the Inspector General of Police on Sunday, THE GAZETTE NIGERIA claims that Nigerian youths resumed the #EndSARS demonstrations nationwide.

The demonstrators are demanding police reforms, the release from jail of all demonstrators, and justice for the families of all those killed as a result of police violence.

In a nationwide broadcast, President Muhammadu Buhari said that his government would do everything possible to overhaul the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

Outlawed SARS members have been charged with intimidation, police brutality and extra-judicial killings.
