On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari received a report from the presidential panel investigating the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, for alleged abuse of office.

The report was delivered by the Chairman of the council, Justice Ayo Salami, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to the President.

The report was submitted more than four months after security operatives detained Magu.

He was arrested for suspected financial malfeasance on July 6 and questioned by the jury.

The anti-graft czar was later suspended by the president in order to allow the charges against him to be fully investigated.

Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant to President Buhari on New Media, reported the development on his @BashirAmaad Twitter account.

He wrote:

“Today at the State House, Abuja, President @MBuhari received the report of the Presidential Panel headed by Justice Ayo Salami, probing Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”
