Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu,

Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu said on Monday that preparation will begin next week for a new police team to replace the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The disbandment of the infamous tactical squad from the police commands in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) was declared by the IGP on Sunday.

Adamu, who said this when he was visited by a music star, David Adeleke alias Davido, at the headquarters of the Abuja Force, vowed to investigate all incidents of violence committed by SARS operatives and book the culprits.

The new outfit, he said, would be intelligence-driven, well trained, and act only on occasions that warranted their attention.

The IGP emphasized that new personnel with a new orientation must make up the team.

Adamu said:

“We just disbanded SARS yesterday (Sunday), so protesters should calm down and give us time to fix the problem. The general public will be part of the process of getting a new outfit.

“I’m talking to you so, I will keep talking to many others and get civil societies involved and get their input towards the new unit.”

Davido demanded the immediate release of all the #ENDSARS demonstrators detained by police in separate parts of the world in his reply.
