Atiku Officially declares Interest in Presidential Race
Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria's former Vice President, has expressed interest in running for President in 2023.
Indications of this surfaced in Gombe on Monday after he met with the North East Business Community for Atiku 2023, a powerful Northern business group.
Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin, in partnership with National Coordinator Bappayo Adamu and National Patron Senator Abdul Ningi, formed a group that asked Atiku to run for President in 2023.
The group has also vowed to buy Atiku a presidential nomination form, claiming that it has been rallying grassroots support for him in all of Nigeria's North Eastern states.
Atiku's determination to run for President in 2023 is evidenced by his signing of this agreement, which allows the group to purchase the form. The gesture was unheard of, he said.
Atiku had commissioned the group's campaign office in Gombe, the state capital, earlier in the day.
The North East Business Community for Atiku's 2023 goal is already in place in all of the North East's states, with the Northwest putting together its own version.
