Adamawa 2027: Intense Race as 27 Candidates Vie for Governorship

As the 2027 general elections approach, Adamawa State’s political scene is buzzing with activity.

A significant event took place recently when the Gongola Peoples’ Forum (GPF) inaugurated its new council of elders.

This gathering became a platform for several prominent figures to announce their intentions to run for the state’s top position.

Among those who declared their candidacies were Senator Ishaku Abbo, Barrister Denis Habila Gapsiso, Dr. Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa, Yuguda Garba, Engr. Dr. Musa Maigana, and Engr. Khobe Dwana.

Each aspirant shared their vision for Adamawa State, emphasizing their commitment to tackling the state’s current challenges.

They expressed a strong desire to lead the state towards progress and development.

The GPF, recognized as a significant political force in Adamawa, now faces the task of deciding which candidate to support.

During the meeting, the forum’s secretary, Barr Leonard Nzadon, clarified that the group does not favour any particular politician or party.

However, they intend to back a popular candidate and party with a solid structure from the ward to the federal level.

The political atmosphere is charged with anticipation. Navigating the complex web of alliances and rivalries will be a significant challenge for all involved, given the unique nature of Adamawa State’s politics.

Senator Abbo, speaking to journalists after the event, mentioned that the seven aspirants present are not considering a consensus candidate, as it may not benefit any of them.

Notably, other potential candidates, such as Chief Dr. Maurice Vunobolki, Hon. Wafari Theman, Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara, and Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Hong, were absent from the GPF elders council inauguration. Their participation in the race could further intensify the competition.

As the election date draws nearer, the people of Adamawa State keenly await to see who will emerge as the leading contender for the governorship, hoping for leadership that will steer the state towards a prosperous future.
