Adamawa Police Chief Welcomes 10,000 Recruits with a Powerful Call for Discipline
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), has warmly welcomed newly passed-out police constables, urging them to embrace honesty, discipline, and dedication in their roles.
Speaking at the State Command Headquarters on Justice Buba Ardo Way, CP Morris emphasized the importance of discipline as the foundation of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Discipline is the bedrock of this profession,” he said.
“Remain steadfast, exercise discretion responsibly, and avoid actions that could tarnish the image of the Force.”
The constables, comprising General Duty and Specialist officers, recently completed their training at Police Colleges in Maiduguri and Kaduna.
They graduated on January 23, 2025, as part of a nationwide recruitment drive that brought 10,000 new officers into the Nigeria Police Force.
These officers will be deployed to their respective local government areas of origin in Adamawa State.
This strategy aligns with the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM’s vision of community-centered policing.
The Inspector-General’s approach aims to enhance public safety through stronger community ties and people-focused policing.
By serving in their local communities, these officers are expected to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public.
The Commissioner advised the recruits to use their new roles to foster peace and ensure the safety of citizens.
He reiterated that their conduct must always reflect the values of the Force, urging them to avoid any behavior that could bring disrepute to their uniform.
The event marks a significant step toward improving security in Adamawa State and across Nigeria.
By focusing on community-oriented strategies, the police aim to restore public trust and address the unique security challenges in local communities.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Command, described the Commissioner’s address as both motivational and instructive.
“The CP’s words provide a clear guide for the new officers as they begin their policing careers,” he stated.
The deployment of these recruits is expected to boost the Force’s capacity to respond to security issues more effectively.
Their training has equipped them with the skills needed to tackle modern security challenges while adhering to the rule of law.
The recruitment of 10,000 constables nationwide underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening its workforce.
By integrating local officers into their home communities, the Force hopes to improve collaboration with residents and enhance intelligence gathering.
The Commissioner also reminded the recruits of their duty to respect human rights and uphold justice at all times.
“Your role is to serve and protect,” he said. “Always act with integrity and ensure that your actions reflect the trust placed in you by the public.”
Residents of Adamawa have expressed optimism about the deployment of new officers.
Many believe that having police constables who understand local dynamics will improve security in their communities.
The nationwide recruitment drive and subsequent training of officers are part of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
These reforms aim to address gaps in manpower and promote a more proactive approach to policing.
The Adamawa State Police Command has pledged to support the new officers as they transition into their roles.
Through mentorship and continuous training, the Command aims to ensure that the recruits maintain high standards of professionalism.
This significant recruitment effort is a step toward addressing the security challenges facing Nigeria.
By investing in community-focused policing, the Force hopes to create a safer environment for all citizens.
The graduation ceremony in Maiduguri and Kaduna highlighted the dedication of the recruits, who completed months of rigorous training.
Their commitment to serving the nation was evident as they pledged to uphold the values of the Nigeria Police Force.
The presence of newly trained officers in Adamawa State is expected to strengthen the relationship between the police and the public.
This partnership is crucial for addressing crime and maintaining peace in the region.
The Commissioner’s address served as both a call to action and a reminder of the responsibilities that come with wearing the police uniform.
By focusing on discipline, integrity, and community engagement, the Adamawa State Police Command aims to set a positive example for law enforcement across the country.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje concluded by thanking the public for their continued support and cooperation with the police.
He urged residents to work closely with the newly deployed officers to ensure the success of community policing efforts.
