AfD Demands Expulsion of 1.2M Ukrainian Refugees, Calls for Border Fences
Katrin Ebner-Steiner, the leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) group in Bavaria’s state parliament, has made a controversial call for the immediate expulsion of Ukrainian refugees from Germany.
She argued that the country risks being “flooded with welfare recipients unwilling to integrate” and called for a policy of “comprehensive re-migration.”
This includes the deportation of individuals without residence status and those with criminal records.
Ebner-Steiner emphasized that Ukrainian refugees, numbering about 1.2 million in Germany and 200,000 in Bavaria, should return to their home country.
She claimed Ukraine has enough land and resources for them to rebuild their lives.
In addition, the AfD leader proposed erecting fences along Germany’s borders to control immigration.
She also suggested allowing Bavarian cities to declare a “state of emergency” to deny refugees shelter and replace welfare payments with basic goods.
The remarks have sparked significant debate across Germany, with critics accusing the AfD of promoting divisive and discriminatory policies.
Advocates for refugees argue that such measures undermine humanitarian principles and Germany’s international commitments.
