Amy Gaman Empowers Women Amidst COVID-19 Crisis

The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has a significantly different effect on women, men, children, boys and other genders. 

While men make up most of those who have died from the virus, women and girls bear the brunt of disproportionate burdens of treatment, income and employment losses, inadequate access to health and other vital services, greater risk of land and property being dispossessed, and digital gender and pay disparities.

Such impacts can be a blow to their overall economic wellbeing for women already living in poverty, and hinder their ability to buy basic needs, such as medicine and food.

In a gesture to see that women are engaged in this crisis period, the Project Director of Nuru Nigeria, Amy Gaman through the support of her family has taken to her heel; as part of celebrating her birthday to train and empower 10 women with in-kind capitals to setting-up petty trading.

Adamawa Celebrities and Achievers Award's Humanitarian Ambassador of the year 2019 was sighted doing what she loves to do best, and 26th April yearly is very special to her.

She has focused on humanitarian services and made it a routine to visit children in hospitals, orphanage or schools where Amy and her foundation takes care of there bills or provide support for the family.

According to Amy;
"These women are all from vulnerable households responsible for at least 4 dependants".

She believes that women supporting women is the only way to attain gender equity and equality.
