The National Youth Service Corps has deployed 2,050 corps members to Bauchi State for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 orientation exercise, scheduled to hold at the Wailo Permanent Orientation Camp in Ganjuwa LGA.

Bauchi State is preparing to receive 2,050 corps members deployed for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 orientation exercise of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), as the scheme moves to begin another cycle of national service.

The State Coordinator of NYSC in Bauchi, Mr. Kufre Umoren, disclosed this on Tuesday in Bauchi, saying that the state government and NYSC officials had put all necessary measures in place to ensure a smooth, safe, and well-organized orientation programme.

According to Mr. Umoren, registration of the corps members will take place between January 21 and January 23 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp located in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

He explained that corps members are expected to report to camp within the stipulated period, as late reporting would not be tolerated.

He further stated that the official swearing-in ceremony for the corps members is scheduled for Friday, during which they would be formally inducted into the national service scheme. The orientation exercise, which spans three weeks, is expected to end on February 10.

The coordinator stressed that admission into the orientation camp would be strictly based on proper verification, noting that every corps member would be thoroughly screened and certified as a genuine graduate before being allowed entry.

Mr. Umoren said:

“To safeguard the integrity of the scheme, discreet and comprehensive screening will be carried out to prevent impersonation, intrusion, or the presence of unqualified persons in the camp”.

He added that registration dates had already been communicated to all deployed corps members and urged them to adhere strictly to camp rules and regulations throughout their stay.

According to him, any corps member found violating the NYSC code of conduct would face disciplinary measures in line with the scheme’s extant rules.

Mr. Umoren also expressed concern over the safety of corps members travelling to the state, advising them to avoid late-night journeys and to take necessary precautions while en route to camp.

The state coordinator further charged the incoming corps members to conduct themselves with discipline, punctuality, and diligence, stressing the importance of compliance with the approved NYSC dress code and camp routines.

He warned that acts of indiscipline, including lateness, absenteeism, improper dressing, or refusal to obey lawful instructions, would attract sanctions.

Mr. Umoren reaffirmed NYSC’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members, adding that relevant security agencies and health officials had been adequately briefed to ensure a safe and conducive environment throughout the orientation period.

He urged the corps members to see the orientation exercise as an opportunity to embrace national unity, build character, and contribute positively to the development of the country.
