Tragic Boko Haram Raid Leaves Villages in Ruins, Millions Lost
In a terrifying night raid, Boko Haram insurgents stormed Kwapre and nearby villages in New Yadul District (formerly Dugwaba District) of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
The armed militants struck around 7:30 PM on Tuesday, February 25, and continued their assault past midnight. Homes, churches, schools, and businesses were set ablaze, and properties worth millions of Naira were looted.
Residents fled for their lives after hearing of the approaching danger. Though no casualties were reported, many lost everything they owned.
“We escaped with our lives, but everything we own is gone,” lamented Joel Kulaha, the Village Head of Kwapre.
Hon. Abalis Jawaja, the Village Head of the King, described the raid as swift and ruthless. The insurgents burned buildings and stole valuables, leaving the community in devastation.
Soldiers stationed in Garaha responded in the early hours, engaging the attackers and forcing them to retreat. However, their intervention came too late to prevent the destruction.
This latest attack marks the tenth invasion of these communities by Boko Haram. Residents live in constant fear, struggling to rebuild after repeated assaults.
“This is our ancestral land. We are farmers, and we have nowhere else to go,” said Mal Aliyu, the District Head of Yadul. “We are helpless and at the mercy of the government to protect us from these evil men.”
The continued violence raises serious concerns about security in northeast Nigeria. Locals are calling for a stronger military presence and effective strategies to end the cycle of terror.
Efforts to reach Hong LGA Chairman, Mr. Solomon Inuwa Waaganda, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
As Kwapre and New Yadul District assess the damage, their calls for urgent intervention grow louder. The people desperately seek peace, hoping the government will take decisive action to protect them.
More updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
