The Borno state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur has reiterated the state government commitment and determination to partner with the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) and the Shell Petroleum Development Congress (SPDC), to better the lives of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in her state.

Alhaji Umar Kadafur who disclosed this on Tuesday when a delegation of the NNPC, SPDC and Dan Garu Resources Ltd led by Egnr Abdulkadir Ibrahim paid a courtesy call at the Government House, Maiduguri said the gesture will go along way in bringng succour to the IDPs.

The Deputy, Governor called on other cooperative organizations and individuals to emulate the NNPC and SPDC, adding that even recently the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo offered scholarship to some IDPs in the state.

While thanking the NNPC and SPDC for the gesture Alhaji Kadufur said ” today I was at an occasion at the Maiduguri International School, where Vice President Yemi Osinbajo sponsored some IDPs to study in that famous private school, where children of the elites are. We thank you for the gesture. I also want call on other cooperate organization and individuals to emulate you.

He assured the delegation that the items donated will be judiciously distributed to the target beneficiaries access the 10 local government areas.

Earlier, the Leader of the delegation, Engr. Abdulkadir Ibrahim said ” we are in the state as part of cooperate soocial responsibility to Flagg of the distribution of food and non food items to IDPs access 10 local governments in the state which includes 3,000 wrappers , 3,000 blankets, 3000 mattresses, 3,000 mats,3,000 plastic buckets, 3,000 plastic kettles, among others.

Others according to Engr Ibrahim includes. Rice millets,maize beans, vegetable oil, Maggi, etc.

While at the Shenu’s Palace, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi appealed for more interventions from.well meaning cooperate organisation and individuals as the IDPs cannot access their farmlands, education and health facilities, as well as socio economic activities due to the insurgency

The Royal father thanked the NNPC and SPDC for the intervention and call on other cooperate organizations and individuals to emulate them.

” Borno had over 1,200 years of history, we had experienced many crisis in the past, such as Rabeh invasion, Maitasine and now Boko Haram with prayers by the grace of Allah we will surely come out of this crisis better and stronger,” the Shehu added.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for restoring peace back to the northeast, adding that before inception of President Buhari over 20 local government areas of the state were under Boko Harsm contro, Maiduguri Airport was Closed, all roads linking Maiduguri and others towns were closed except Maiduguri- Damaturu road but toady there is relative peace, most of our roads and airport have been reopened..
