Damian Opara, Peoples Democratic Party's publicity secretary in Imo State, has resigned from the party.
On Thursday, Opara resigned in a letter he addressed to the party's head of state.
The politician who thanked the party leadership for the opportunity to serve four years as their spokesperson did not reveal the reason for his resignation.
This was issued in a two-paragraph letter which reads,
“With honour, I, Hon Damian Opara, the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State chapter, with due respect, resign as the State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State chapter with immediate effect.
“I thank the party for the opportunity given to me to serve as the Imo state chapter publicity Secretary.”
Although his next political move was not announced, his allies said he had joined the All Progressives Congress.
Modestus Nwamkpa, one of the state governor's aides, said Opara had joined APC.
He said, “The State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon Damian Opara, has resigned. He is now a son of the APC.”
