Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State
Mallam Aminu Balarabe-Isah, the Commissioner in charge of Hisbah and Sharia implementation in Bauchi State, has disclosed that the State Government, under Governor Bala Mohammed's administration, is planning to organize empowerment programmes for commercial sex workers in order to prevent them from continuing their current business.
He said the information gathered from the sensitization workshop would assist the commission in taking steps to discourage commercial sex workers from continuing their dangerous trade on Monday.
He also mentioned that his agency's investigations revealed that the majority of sex workers turned to prostitution as a result of illiteracy, poverty, or mistreatment by their stepmothers.
Minor family squabbles, he said, played a role in their decision to turn to prostitution, and he promised that the government would make every effort to reunite them with their parents.

The commissioner claimed that the state government was willing to organize mass marriages for those who were fortunate enough to find serious suitors.
On behalf of the sex workers, Hafsatu Azare said that they would be willing to leave the trade if the government would provide them with economic empowerment, describing their situation as pitiful.
