*Caucus of the All Progressives Congress vote of confidence on Oshiomhole,
*Oshiomhole brought discipline, stability and success to party- Chief Don Etiebet,
*Oshiomhole political dynasty is made in Nigeria product which never goes bad- Ogiemwonyi
It was not a bolt from the blue that made headlines in the news, both print and electronic media, when the South-south caucus of the All Progressive Congress (APC) categorically stated “it would resist any attempt by forces within the party that are working to remove Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman of the party. ”
That statement only shows that the South-south caucus is not only well aware of the ground realities prevailing but also has unbridled confidence in the capability of the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. This is not the first time some leader has come out in the open to voice support in the astute leadership qualities of the National Chairman .
Engr. (Dr) Chris Ogiemwonyi, an astute politician who is one of the top contenders for the office of the governor under the APC, for the Edo 2020, openly told party supporters in September 2019,pronounced Oshiomhole as a model. He paid a rare tribute to him, called him ” a true democratic hero that every Nigerian should emulate”.
For him, it has become important to honour those deserving of honour now that the elections were over. In the open addressed to party supporters, he referred to him “as the architect of modern democracy in Edo State , who made history by leading an opposition party for 7 years in the State and then taking hold of power at the centre. He surveyed that without Oshiomhole, the President Muhammadu Buhari, second term election may not have being possible.
“Truth be told, men like him are made up of sterner stuff and are rare to come by in every generation. Little wonder he is called “Oshoquake”.His achievements transcend political divides and I am not ashamed to publicly acknowledge them. There is no denying the fact that his place in the history of the Edo race in particular, and in Nigeria, in general, is well etched. By his sheer wit and unwavering commitment to democratic ethos, economic prosperity, he led APC to victory in the Edo 2016, election.”
wished and prayed that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the team led by him remain, in the interest of the party, country and well-being of its members . What better a compliment or endorsement on the performance of the National Chairman, in just one term of leading the party, can one expect, not to mention the two terms of four-years he led Edo state as its governor with resounding success and record achievements that will be remembered for posterity.
It is to the credit of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, that he not only speaks with courage and conviction but also does not hesitate to take stringent measures against the high and mighty in the interest of the party . He does not hesitate to carry out surgical strikes within the party or across the border in national interest.
I can described the National Chairman of the APC as a great Nigerian political product and a successful leader who not only mentored many leaders in his state, but laid the solid foundation for the sustained progress of the State.
Ogiemwonyi, likened Oshiomhole to a coconut blessed with divine task to be fruitful and useful to humanity, versatile, courageous, which could bear fruit for a long time. “Like the coconut, some by-products/fruits will get bad along the way or after being sold in the market; in actual fact, his political product may not be the favourite of some other people. “The bottom line, however, is simple. If Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, were a coconut; I dare say, with all simplicity, I would be among the forefront liners that will eat, drink and sleep the Comrade 24/7,” Ogiemwonyi said. While alluding to Oshiomhole’s contribution to the growth of the State, Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi said: “There is no doubt the Oshiomhole political dynasty is a made in Nigeria product which never goes bad. The foundation laid and blueprints developed during his tenure as Governor of Edo State which cuts across all sections of the State’s economy have actually simplified the process of governance till date.
“Great leaders are not born in the minds of the people but they are born in the hearts of the people.”
