Following the declaration of the second wave incursion of COVID-19 by the federal government, Adamawa State Government ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools.
A declaration by Aisha Abubakar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, claimed that the closure was to take immediate effect.
While no explanation for the latest move has been put forward by the government, the reasons for the decision might not be unrelated to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic spreading across the globe.
The statement said,
“The ministry of education and human capital development wishes to direct and announce the immediate closure of private and public schools in the state today being 17th December, 2020.
”Resumption date will be announced on a later date. All school administrators/authorities are to strictly comply with the directives,”
