Dr. Elisha Bello Calls for Unity and Prayers as Muslim Ummah Celebrates Eid
As the Muslim Ummah across the globe welcomes the joyous occasion of Eid, renowned Islamic scholar and community leader Dr. Elisha Bello has called on the faithful in Adamawa and across Nigeria to embrace the spirit of unity, peace, and gratitude. In a heartfelt message, Dr. Bello emphasized the significance of Eid as a time of renewal, reflection, and collective prayers for the progress of the nation.
Speaking from his residence in Yola, Dr. Bello expressed profound joy in witnessing yet another Eid celebration. He highlighted the importance of the occasion as an opportunity for introspection and gratitude.
“Eid is not just about feasting and merrymaking; it is a time for us to reflect on the blessings bestowed upon us by Allah and to renew our commitment to righteousness, charity, and compassion for one another,” he said.
He urged Muslims to remember the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by extending kindness and generosity, especially to the less privileged. “The true essence of Eid lies in our ability to share with others, to uplift the needy, and to reinforce the bonds of brotherhood that Islam preaches.”
Dr. Bello took a moment to offer special prayers for Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole, seeking divine intervention in addressing the challenges facing the nation. He prayed for peace, economic stability, and prosperity, calling on leaders at all levels to govern with justice and sincerity.
“Nigeria is at a crucial crossroads, and we must turn to Allah for guidance. We must pray for our leaders to be endowed with wisdom and the strength to govern fairly. Let us also pray for the security and well-being of every citizen, from the rural villages to the bustling cities,” he implored.
He particularly emphasized the need for peace and unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious groups, stating that division and hatred have no place in Islam. “Our faith teaches us to love one another, to respect differences, and to work together for the greater good. This Eid, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering harmony in our communities.”
Dr. Bello acknowledged the economic hardships many Nigerians are currently facing, noting that the rising cost of living has made it difficult for some families to celebrate Eid as they traditionally would. He encouraged those who have been blessed with financial stability to support those struggling to make ends meet.
“Now, more than ever, we must embody the true meaning of zakat and sadaqah. If you have been fortunate, extend a hand to those who are less privileged. Let no family go without a meal on this special day. A small act of kindness can go a long way in bringing joy to someone’s heart.”

The Role of the Youth in Nation-Building
Addressing the younger generation, Dr. Bello urged Nigerian youths to take their future seriously by embracing education, discipline, and hard work. He stressed that the youth are the backbone of the nation and that their choices today will determine the country’s trajectory in the years to come.
“You are the leaders of tomorrow, but the journey starts today. Let us shun vices that threaten our development and instead strive to be upright, productive citizens. Education, entrepreneurship, and moral values must be our guiding principles,” he stated.
He also warned against the dangers of political manipulation, urging young people to be vigilant and informed when engaging in civic activities. “Do not allow yourselves to be used as tools for violence or division. Your voices matter, and they should be used constructively.”
Beyond prayers and charitable acts, Dr. Bello encouraged Muslims to use the Eid celebrations to strengthen family and community ties. He noted that in today’s fast-paced world, many families have become disconnected, with technology and personal pursuits taking precedence over meaningful relationships.
“Eid is a perfect time to reconnect with family members, visit the elderly, and settle differences. Let us not forget our obligations to our parents, siblings, and neighbors. A united family builds a strong community, and strong communities make a thriving nation.”
He particularly emphasized the role of women in maintaining family harmony, praising the sacrifices made by mothers and wives in ensuring a peaceful and loving home environment. “To our mothers and sisters, we recognize your dedication and prayers. May Allah bless you abundantly for your patience and unwavering support.”
In concluding his message, Dr. Bello urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the difficulties they may be facing. He expressed confidence that with unity, faith, and hard work, the nation would overcome its present challenges and emerge stronger.
“No matter how tough the times may seem, let us never lose hope. Allah’s mercy is boundless, and He will see us through. We must keep faith, continue to support one another, and work collectively towards a brighter future.”
As Muslims in Adamawa and across Nigeria come together to celebrate Eid, Dr. Bello’s words serve as a reminder of the true essence of the occasion—one that goes beyond personal festivities to encompass the broader values of compassion, unity, and hope. His prayers and calls for action resonate as a timely message for a nation in search of peace, prosperity, and lasting progress.
