DSS Arrests Blogger for Cloning Official Website, Defrauding Job Seekers
The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a blogger, Sylvester Victor Augustus, accused of cloning an official government website to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.
The suspect allegedly replicated the website of a federal agency, posting fake job advertisements to lure victims into paying for non-existent employment opportunities.
According to DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya, the arrest followed credible intelligence and a thorough investigation.
The suspect is believed to have deceived numerous individuals, collecting substantial sums of money under the guise of processing fees for job applications.
“This arrest underscores our commitment to combating cybercrime and protecting citizens from fraudsters,” Afunanya stated.
He urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with online job offers and to verify the authenticity of such opportunities through official channels.
The DSS has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the integrity of government institutions and ensuring that individuals who engage in fraudulent activities are brought to justice.
The suspect is currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the completion of investigations.
This incident serves as a reminder for job seekers to remain vigilant and to rely on official government websites and verified sources when seeking employment opportunities.
The public is advised to report any suspicious job advertisements or recruitment processes to the appropriate authorities.
