Princess Edna D.D. Azura, a native of Adamawa State, was officially inaugurated as the 16th National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) in Abuja. This significant event took place at the NCWS National Secretariat, marking a new chapter for the organization.
Azura, who hails from the North East, was elected to succeed the late Habitat Lami Lau, who passed away last year. Before her election as president, Princess Edna D.D. Azura held the position of First Assistant National Secretary for the NCWS, demonstrating her commitment and leadership within the organization.
The inauguration ceremony, which was attended by a host of dignitaries, included the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Barrister Boss Mustafa. Also present were members of the National Assembly, both current and former Ministers of Women Affairs, past and present National Presidents of the NCWS, as well as state leadership from across the country.
This new leadership transition in the NCWS promises a continued effort to support and empower women across Nigeria, with Princess Edna D.D. Azura at the helm. Her extensive experience and dedication to women’s issues are expected to further strengthen the organization’s impact nationwide.
