EYN Empowers Staff with Workshop on Blog Creation and Maintenance
In a bid to enhance its services, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekklesiya Yan’uwa A Nigeria—EYN) hosted a five-day workshop focused on blog creation and maintenance at its headquarters in Kwarhi, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The training, facilitated by Vangawa Bolgent, aimed to modernise the operations of the church’s media and ICT unit.
Mr. Mbursa Jinatu, head of the Media Unit, emphasised the necessity of transitioning from traditional methods to advanced digital practices.
“It has become paramount for us to have to retrain on media and the use of these state-of-the-art technologies,” he stated, urging participants to embrace innovations that would streamline their content creation, production, and distribution processes.
Bolgent explained the importance of adopting digital devices for information management, highlighting the societal shift from traditional to digital media for content dissemination.
He noted that there are over 600 million blogs worldwide, illustrating the potential blogging holds as a means of livelihood.
Participants learnt key skills such as creating and structuring blogs and websites, content monetisation, and producing original, engaging content.
Indagiju Ijadi, a workshop participant, expressed enthusiasm for her newfound knowledge, saying, “Truly, this is the first time I am hearing about the word ‘blog’, and no doubt based on the explanation of the facilitator, blogging is something worth learning and practicing.”
Mr. Peter Kwaji, representing the Rural Development Agricultural Department, acknowledged the workshop’s significance in revitalising his department’s outreach efforts.
He recalled that the department was once a leading supplier of poultry products but faced challenges due to a lack of technological advancements.
He expressed his readiness to implement new strategies learnt during the training.
Joshua Illiya, a participant from the ICT Unit, lauded the workshop as long overdue, stating, “This is one of a kind workshop that we expected for so long, and luckily the EYN management has made our dream come true.”
EYN President Rev. Dr. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya reassured attendees that the management would continue to invest in staff training and welfare, emphasising that this workshop is only the beginning of ongoing educational initiatives.
He encouraged staff to prioritise technology while remaining aligned with the church’s moral and spiritual values.
Overall, the workshop has equipped participants with valuable skills, fostering a new wave of digital engagement within the church community.
