FG to Provide 1.3 billion Naira for 370 Houses in Taraba State


In its effort to support the development of up to 500,000 homes targeted at people on low income over the next five years, the Federal government through its agency, Family Homes Funds ,FHF will provide about 1.3 billion nairas to build houses in Taraba State. 

This was disclosed during an interactive meeting by developers, development partners, funding partners, and uptakers for Down to Earth Golden Palms for Jalingo Affordable Home Project in Jalingo. The meeting which took place on Thursday at Cottage Hotel Jalingo, the Taraba State capital has in attendance members of the Nigeria Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees uptakers of the project.

Speaking during the meeting, the Managing Director of Family Homes Funds Femi Adewale represented by Project Manager of the Funds Dr. Usman Isah said that their agency was Incorporated in the year 2018 and became fully operational in 2019 but its activities were hindered by COVID:19 Pandemic, noting that it has a mandate of providing homes to people with low income.

He emphasized that their main objective was to provide affordable houses across Nigeria with five hundred thousand homes and five million jobs at an initial stage.

Dr. Usman Isah further explained that they were in Taraba State to study the proposal submitted by the developers, of the project, Abdishmus Investment Nigeria Limited to determine whether what they presented has aligned with the reality on the ground to justify their capacity to execute the project.

According to him, the interactive meeting would provide an opportunity to meet with the developers, development partners, and uptakers to have their views and at the same time visit the proposed site of the project, adding that his team was happy with what was provided so far.

The Project Manager told the meeting that there was a new scheme introduced by the federal government to rejuvenate the economy as a result of the COVID:19 pandemic. 

The scheme according to him, would provide three hundred thousand homes in addition to the initial five hundred thousand homes making it eight hundred thousand homes across the country.

In his presentation, Sheikh Idris Hayatuddeen of Green Jobs Limited, development partners of the project, appreciated the effort of Family Homes Funds in providing affordable houses to the common man stressing that the initiative of providing homes and creating job opportunities was worth commendable as the home building is a massive job creator.

He further explained that the model of technology choices for the project tagged "Architect of Employment" was not new and it would help in providing training especially among youth and would assist the FHF to achieve its target.

"With our particular type of technology, it's a fact that one, we will help them achieve their target of five hundred thousand homes because our construction technology, that we are introducing, even though it seems new, is an old technology that goes back eight hundred years when man started building homes. Building with materials you find on your site.

Our package comes with not only building of the homes, but it also comes with the training so that at the end of the day our long time objective will be achieved, that's, anybody who wants to build his home, will have skills to build it." He said.

According to the Shiekh Hayatuddeen, the houses were in three categories; 128 one-bedroom flats, 154 two bedrooms flats, and 88 three-bedrooms flats.

He added that the materials to be used in building the houses are locally available, proven technology, low carbon footprint, nontoxic and breathable, regulates humidity, regulates temperature, low maintenance, sound and mold-proof, fireproof, bulletproof, and ultra-low-cost.

In his remarks, the chairman of Nigeria Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees, the uptake is of the project Dame Musa Buhari described Taraba State as a peaceful area with abundant human and natural resources and commended the state governor, Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku for his peace initiative.

He said his union lauded the effort of Abdishmus Investment Nigeria Limited and Family Homes Funds FHF for embarking on this laudable project and reaffirmed the commitment and readiness of the union to uptake the project.

In his welcome address, the General Manager of Abdishmus Investment Nigeria Limited, Engineer Sabiu Bello spoke on the importance of owning a house to everyone in a society stressing that the project has been concealed for a long time and care has been taken during the selection of the land for the project.

According to him, the meeting was interactive to provide an opportunity for the stakeholders in the project to brainstorm for its success adding there several organizations who want to key into the project.
