The Governor’s swift approval of the legislation, which aims to enhance self-determination and cultural identity, was lauded by the Gongola People’s Forum (GPF).
The forum described the development as a “momentous milestone” that rectifies decades of cultural imposition stemming from colonial indirect rule.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Chief Barr. LD Nzadon, the GPF hailed Fintiri as a “fearless leader” and a champion of indigenous rights.
“Today, the Rubicon has been crossed, granting long-sought autonomy to our people. This is a testament to good governance and true service to the oppressed,” Nzadon said.
The forum emphasized that the creation of the chiefdoms and emirates demonstrates that politics can be a tool for progress and emancipation.
“Governor Fintiri has written his name in gold, setting an example for exceptional leadership in Nigeria,” the statement added.
The GPF pledged its continued support for the Governor’s policies and expressed confidence in his leadership. They further assured him of their prayers and backing for any future political aspirations.
The creation of these new administrative units is expected to foster unity, cultural preservation, and development across the affected areas.
Governor Fintiri, who has been commended for his people-oriented policies, reiterated his commitment to ensuring equitable representation and the upliftment of all communities within the state.
