Governor Fintiri Launches Second Phase of Women Empowerment Grants in Adamawa State
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially launched the second phase of the Fintiri Business Wallet, a women’s empowerment initiative aimed at reducing poverty and fostering entrepreneurship among women in the state.
During the launch, Governor Fintiri emphasised the importance of this programme as part of his administration’s 8-Point Agenda, which focuses on alleviating poverty, promoting prosperity, and supporting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) among women in Adamawa.
The Fintiri Business Wallet provides a grant of ₦50,000 to each beneficiary, designed to either support existing businesses or help start new trading ventures. The first phase of the programme successfully empowered 10,000 women petty traders, and the second phase is set to benefit an additional 10,000 women.
Governor Fintiri underscored the significance of institutionalising poverty alleviation and wealth creation through sustainable programmes like the Fintiri Business Wallet rather than distributing handouts to a select, politicised group under the guise of palliatives.
He also highlighted other initiatives of his administration aimed at empowering women and youth, such as the Skill Development Corridor, which has provided training to over 45,000 youths in various trades, and the Social Investment Corridor, which has supported over 30,000 beneficiaries with a monthly stipend of ₦10,000.
In addition to these empowerment programmes, Governor Fintiri announced the procurement of 31 mass transit luxurious buses to alleviate transportation difficulties for citizens, with a significant number of these buses allocated to schools to ease transportation challenges faced by students.
The governor congratulated the beneficiaries of the Fintiri Business Wallet and reassured the citizens that his administration’s best efforts are yet to come, promising continued progress and support for the people of Adamawa State.
