Fintiri’s Bold Plan to Combat Crime in Adamawa Gains Momentum
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has doubled down on his administration’s commitment to securing Adamawa State. He called on residents to actively support security agencies by providing crucial intelligence to combat crime effectively.
During a courtesy visit from Major General Eyitayo Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Jos, Fintiri emphasized the need for a stronger partnership between the state government and the Nigerian Army.
He acknowledged the military’s efforts in fighting crime, especially given Adamawa’s proximity to Boko Haram-affected regions. He assured the GOC of continuous government support to reinforce security operations and safeguard the lives of citizens.
“As a government, we are committed to supporting institutions—whether federal or state—because of their role in our people’s development. We will also review our Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Command Secondary School and provide necessary support,” Fintiri said.
Despite financial constraints, the governor assured the public that his administration is dedicated to prudent resource management, ensuring development and security remain top priorities.
Major General Oyinlola, who also leads Operation Safe Haven, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace in Adamawa. He noted that recent security challenges stem from displaced criminal elements from the North West but assured residents that his troops are fully prepared to combat any threats.
Reflecting on his early military career in Adamawa, the GOC praised the state’s transformation under Fintiri’s leadership. He commended the governor for his unwavering support to the Brigade and Operation Farauta, which are actively working to prevent kidnappings and other criminal activities.
The GOC urged enhanced collaboration between the state government and Command Secondary School, Numan, highlighting the exceptional academic performance of local students. He stressed that military operations would continue to focus on securing Adamawa and surrounding states.
Fintiri’s administration remains steadfast in its fight against crime, with continued investment in security infrastructure and intelligence gathering. The partnership between the state and military signals a strengthened resolve to protect citizens and maintain stability in Adamawa.
