
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq has on Thursday 27 August visited the North-East Humanitarian Innovation Hub campus in Yola, Adamawa State.
Sadiya was accompanied by Maxwell Gidado; the Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State Governor, and the Secretary to the State Government; Bashiru Ahmad.
The Minister was received by the Founder of the Hub; Ahmad Tijjani Modibbo and the co-founder May Igbazua.

Events
The Humanitarian Minister was given a guided tour of the Hubs
3D-Fabrication lab, she was also met by two of the beneficiaries of the
3D-prosthetic limbs, Secondary School Students beneficiaries of the Hubs
science club sponsorship program.
After the tour, the Honorable Minister chaired the virtual graduation of the Womencodeprnuer program, where 800 cohorts of the program had received their CISCO certifications. She congratulated and encouraged the graduates to use their new-found knowledge to effective and productive use.
Speaking on behalf of the wife of the executive Governor, The chief of staff, Chief Maxwell Gidado congratulated the Hub for using innovation towards solving the challenges of the northeast as well as promoting social development in the humanitarian sector.

The North-East Humanitarian Hub is focused on leveraging technology and
social innovation to tackle local challenges in the region.
Since its establishment in 2018, we have recorded several success stories of impact within the region as outlined below ;

- Launch of a 3D Printing Lab and Internship program.
- Provision of prosthetic limbs to 10 beneficiaries including 9-year old Mohammed and DSP Adamu a service police officer amongst other beneficiaries.
- Organizing free women coding & entrepreneurship program for over 100 women with Adamawa state in 2019 and expanded to 6000 across the northeastern states in 2020
- Won the lion Prize at
the Venice Film festival in Italy for the Documentary "Daughters of
Chibok" which was funded by the North-East Humanitarian Innovation hub

- Partnership with AIME Australia to mentor over 100 post-primary school children in Adamawa State.
- Hosted a free Photo Storytelling Workshop which was facilitated by renowned photojournalist, Nelly Ating for aspiring photographers and documentary filmmakers in Adamawa state.
- Hosted a Peace Building
Town Hall meeting for Stakeholders within the Yola metropolis on the way
forward towards making a peaceful Nation These are just a few to
mention that we have been able to achieve within just a year of
establishment.
