Sen. Abbo calls on Nigerians to renew faith with the Country

Senator Ishaku Abbo, representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly, has stated that Nigeria has reached a milestone that deserves to be honoured as the country celebrates its 61st Independence Day.

In an Independence Day statement released on Thursday, the legislature urged Nigerians to maintain optimism and resolve, saying that the country must stay together despite its many problems and also forget the sins of the past and move on as one unified country.

Abbo noted that; "In many ways, the voyage has been agonizing, but it has also been eventful. Our variety is a source of strength. Nigerians' can-do spirit must be reignited by our political, religious, and traditional leaders preaching a message of optimism.

“Those stoking the fires of disintegration or conflict by hate speeches, abduction, banditry, terrorism, and other societal evils should sheathe their swords so that peace might reign,” he said.

Despite the senator's unhappiness with recent events, he pointed out that no matter how angry a human should be, killing or destroying property is not a solution.

As Nigeria marked its 61st Independence Day, Abbo urged Nigerians to reaffirm their confidence in the country.
