Representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education, accompanied by the Management of the Federal University of Agriculture Mubi (FUAMB), conducted an on-site inspection of the temporary and permanent sites for the proposed University of Agriculture Mayo Bani, Mubi, in Adamawa State.
Mrs. Rakiya Gambo Ilyasu, Director of University Education, led the inspection exercise on behalf of the Honorable Minister of Education.
She explained that the purpose of the inspection was to assess both sites and enable the Federal Government to make an informed decision on the commencement of the institution’s construction.
Mrs. Ilyasu emphasised the importance of community involvement and cooperation to ensure the project’s success. She also clarified that the inspection aimed to confirm the suitability of the proposed area for the institution’s activities.
According to the inspection checklist, the university received a right of occupancy from the state government, with original copies submitted to the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja.
However, clarification is needed on whether the land was issued for free or requires compensation to the Royal Fathers. Mrs. Ilyasu advised the state government to issue a certificate of legal authority to prevent future land disputes.
Prof. Tarfa Bitrus Dawi, Vice Chancellor of the University, expressed gratitude to the Minister and his team for their visit and commended the host community for their cooperation. He assured the people of the university management’s support and commitment to realising FUAMB’s full potential.
Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, the Emir of Mubi, thanked the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the Director of University Education for their presence.
He encouraged collective work towards completing the project and urged community members to contribute to the university’s successful establishment.
