Tokyo police have arrested a karaoke bar host after he headbutted a woman who told him he couldn’t sing.
Hiro Kawakami, 23, was escorting two women around Tokyo’s Kabukicho red light district with another bar host when he allegedly assaulted one of them in a karaoke venue along the street.
It’s reported that Kawakami was a host who received payment for keeping wealthy women company.

The group had booked a private room to sing when the woman called him ‘tone deaf’, prompting a verbal confrontation between the two of them.
Despite the other woman trying to intervene, Kawakami headbutted the offending woman, fracturing her orbital floor – the bone at the back of the eye socket.
Kawakami was taken into custody by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police where he later confessed to the assault charges.
He told police that his mitigating circumstances were that she ‘was making fun of me by saying I sucked at singing, and it p****d me off,’ according to soranews24.
Kabukicho (pictured) is the location of many host and hostess clubs, love hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, and is often called the ‘Sleepless Town’
The woman’s eye injury will take around a month to heal.
Japanese host and hostess clubs often employ young men and women to act as companions to paying customers.
They usually earn their wages collecting a commission on the drinks they sell.
