Adamawa Govt Approves N19.7bn for Jimeta Modern Shopping Complex
The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved the construction of the Jimeta Modern Shopping Complex in Yola North Local Government Area, with a budget of N19.7 billion.
The market, originally built in 1996, was recently demolished by the state government to make way for a new, modern structure aimed at boosting the state’s economy.
Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, announced the government’s decision to journalists following a council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday.
Mr. James revealed that the project has been awarded to three contractors, with a completion timeline of twenty months.
Dr. Ishaya Dabari, Commissioner of Commerce, Trade, and Industry, provided details about the new market, which will include shops, a fire service station, a police station, and administrative buildings, among other facilities.
Addressing the ongoing flooding in the state, Commissioner of Environment Sadiq Mohammed urged residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer locations.
Additionally, Commissioner of Health Chief Felix Tangwami reassured the public that the ministry is prepared to handle any disease outbreaks that may arise from the flooding, and he encouraged people to remain vigilant.
