With 16-time champion John Cena as a suitable opponent for the current Universal Champion, it's only appropriate that SummerSlam 2021 presents Reigns' next big moment.

John Cena Is Definitely Returning To WWE, Says "Those Rumours Are True"

John Cena, the WWE superstar, has recently been busy with his Hollywood career, appearing in F9: The Fast and Furious, his Peacemaker series, and The Suicide Squad. However, rumors abound that Cena will make his triumphant comeback to the arena at SummerSlam in August, with speculations claiming that he will fight Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a mouth-watering championship battle.

It's not hard to see why WWE would want John Cena to return after an almost two-and-a-half-year hiatus. Last April, WrestleMania 37, normally WWE's largest event of the year, was hosted with a smaller attendance because to the COVID-19 epidemic, which made huge crowds impossible at the time. With limitations in the United States being eased, WWE wants SummerSlam to be their biggest event in 2021.

This year's SummerSlam will take place at Allegiant Stadium, the new home of the Las Vegas Raiders. This will be the first time an NFL game has been held in a stadium. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Allegiant Stadium's current seating capacity for SummerSlam is slightly over 41,000 people, with WWE already selling "a lot" of tickets during the pre-sale period.

The rumored return of John Cena is piqueing excitement in the event. He last debuted in the WWE world at Wrestlemania 36, where he lost in the Firefly Fun House match against "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. He's been teasing his return to the WWE recently, uploading a photo of the company on Instagram and engaging in an entertaining back-and-forth with NXT Champion Karrion Kross.

Cena is presently filming the HBO Max series Peacemaker in Vancouver, Canada, as part of his acting obligations. However, filming for that series will wrap on July 6, and Cena's schedule will become available after that date. WWE will be doing live events again shortly, beginning on July 16th with a 25-city tour. And, according to rumors, John Cena will appear on Friday Night Smackdown's first live event, which will take place in Houston, Texas.

Cena vs Reigns

When it comes to Cena's next opponent in the ring, the choices are infinite. All eyes, though, are on Roman Reigns as Cena's potential WWE opponent. Now that Reigns has turned villain under the guidance of wrestling great Paul Heyman, this is an exciting fight for wrestling aficionados. This bout was rumored to take place at Wrestlemania 37, but due to conflicting scheduling, it was postponed.

That may have been for the best, as Reigns' career as a villain has continued to thrive. Reigns made the surprise turn last year at SummerSlam, assaulting both Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt after their Universal Championship championship fight. Reigns completed his villain turn five days later at Smackdown, creating an alliance with Paul Heyman that has lasted to this day. With 16-time champion John Cena as a suitable opponent for the current Universal Champion, it's only appropriate that SummerSlam 2021 presents Reigns' next big moment.
