Lagos Police Arrest Suspect in Teen’s Murder, Body Found in Shallow Grave

Lagos State Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly killing a 17-year-old boy, Adeolu Olubade. The teenager was found buried in a shallow grave inside a house in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.

Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the incident came to light after a relative reported the discovery to the authorities.

The body, according to Vanguard, was found at No. 18, Jesus Assembly, Omoguwa Street, Ejigbo.

“On September 3, 2024, at about 8 a.m., a male individual from Ikola, Ipaja Ayobo, Lagos, reported that his cousin, Adeolu Olubade, 17 years old, was found buried inside a room at the above address,” said SP Hundeyin.

The crime is believed to have occurred between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on September 2, 2024.

Detectives responded swiftly to the report and visited the scene. They exhumed the body, which was taken to Isolo General Hospital for an autopsy.

A shovel, suspected to have been used in the burial, was recovered at the scene and is now part of the investigation. The suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting further investigation.

“The case file, suspect, and exhibit will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for further investigation,” SP Hundeyin added.
