Just five days before the start of the new Premier League season, the club reported Monday, Manchester City players Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have tested positive for coronavirus.
In a statement, City said French defender Laporte and Algerian international forward Mahrez were self-isolating according to the rules of the Premier League and the government.
"Neither is displaying symptoms of the virus," the statement said.
"Everyone at the club wishes Riyad and Aymeric a speedy recovery ahead of their return to training and the new season."

The Premier League season begins on Saturday, but when they play Wolves, Manchester City will not begin their campaign until September 21.
Manchester United City and neighbours are skipping the opening weekend to allow them some time to recover from the late end of the 2019/20 season as they both participated in European competition.

Laporte thanked fans for their messages of support, saying he would be back soon.
