Man City's Player will be in Prison till Next year for Rape

Benjamin Mendy, a top player for Manchester City, will appear in court early next year on charges of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third alleged victim.

During the 45-minute hearing at Chester Crown Court, where his trial was set for January 24, 2022, Mendy said only to confirm his identity.

Mendy is accused of rape on four counts and sexual assault on one.

The 27-year-old, dressed in a cream jogging suit, reclined back in the dock, arms folded, listening to proceedings relayed to him by a French translator.

He was not charged, and no pleas were entered during the hearing, which was mostly about administrative procedures before the trial.

A new hearing will be conducted on November 15, and Mendy's lawyer, Eleanor Laws QC, has stated that a motion to dismiss the charges will be filed on that day.

The alleged assaults took place at his home address in Prestbury, Cheshire, on three separate ladies, one of whom was under the age of 18.

On August 26, Mendy was charged with three counts of rape in connection with an alleged event in October 2020, as well as the sexual assault of a lady in early January this year.

He's also accused of rapping a lady earlier this month.

Last month, the Premier League player was denied bail and is now being held in HMP Altcourse in Liverpool.

The left-back has been at Manchester City since 2017 when he arrived for a whopping Β£52 million from Monaco.

After being charged by police, he was suspended by the club awaiting an inquiry.

Mendy appeared in court alongside a co-accused, Louis Saha Matturie, 40, of Eccles, Greater Manchester, who is accused of rape on four counts.

The allegations concern three complainants above the age of 16 and are said to have occurred between April and August 2021.

Judge Stephen Everett remanded both defendants back into jail, and Matturie nodded to three ladies in the public gallery, who waved back, before putting his hands to his face and crying. As he was brought down the steps back to the cells, Mendy gave a wink to a man in the public gallery.
