Mentors Innovation Hub Nigeria to Empower 1,000 Youths and Women in Adamawa through a world bank project
Mentors Innovation Hub Nigeria, in partnership with the Adamawa State Government, has launched the World Bank-funded Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project.
This initiative aims to equip women, youths, and people living with disabilities in Adamawa with valuable skills to promote self-reliance.
During a press conference at the Yola hub on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the project coordinator, Mr. Olatunbosu Adeniyi, explained that the collaboration between the state’s Ministry of Education and Mentors Innovation Hub aims to reduce unemployment.
The project will empower participants with modern skills, lifting them out of the labor market.
The organization is targeting 1,000 individuals from across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas.
These participants will learn skills such as software development and content creation.
Mr. Cletus Oluju, the Project Manager, emphasized the focus on ICT training. After three months of intensive sessions, the goal is for participants to become self-sufficient and able to create jobs in their communities.
He encouraged women, youths, and people with disabilities to apply for this life-changing opportunity.
In addition, Mr. Oluju highlighted that the program has the potential to increase Adamawa’s Internally Generated Revenue if participants apply their newfound knowledge effectively.
The skills offered are designed to be long-lasting and transformative for both personal and community development.
A representative of the Adamawa State Government, Mr. Thomas Amos, commended Mentors Hub for supporting the efforts of Governor Ahmadu Umaru’s administration.
He urged more organizations and individuals to collaborate in boosting job creation across the state.
This fully-funded World Bank project will soon launch its website, allowing interested candidates to apply and follow the application guidelines.
