On Tuesday, the Nigerian Army reported that its Operation Sahel Sanity troops had killed four bandits in the Unguwar Doka village of Katsina State's Faskari Local Government Area as part of its clearance operations to ward off bandits in the Northwest region.

In their ongoing assault against the marauding hoodlums terrorizing the state, the troops also rescued four abducted victims in the Giruwa village of the Dandume Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released at the Special Army Super Camp IV Faskari, Katsina State, the acting Director, Defense Media Operations, Brig. General Benard Onyeuko, revealed this.

In the release, Onyeuko reported that the troops smashed other notorious criminals in the state's Kurfi Local Government Area and recovered from the hoodlums 43 cows, six goats, eight sheep and two locally-made weapons.

He said:
“On October 2nd, 2020, gallant troops of Operation Sahel Sanity deployed at Sabon Layi rescued four kidnapped victims from Giruwa village of Dandume LGA of Katsina State following artillery bombardments on suspected bandits’ location at Unguwan-Doka village which resulted in neutralizing four of the bandits while others escaped into the forest.”

He clarified that preliminary inquiries found that the four victims rescued were in captivity for twelve days, adding that the victims were reunited with their families.

He assured the people that the Nigerian Army will continue to safeguard the lives and property of citizens, especially those in the North-West region, and urged them to provide relevant information to the troops to enable them to operate successfully.
