In a highway crash in Western Australia, a motorcyclist on a Christmas charity Ride was killed and three others were seriously injured.
The 39-year-old woman was one of over 1,000 people who took part in the annual gathering.
When she lost control, she was riding a Honda motorbike along the Mitchell Highway, smashing into a fence. At the scene, she died.
A Suzuki bike, with its 59-year-old female rider surviving with minor injuries, burst into flames.
There was also a three-wheeled BRP spyder, critically injured by a 67-year-old man and his 56-year-old pillion rider.
Witnesses told newsmen that just before the accident, the 39-year-old rider was waving to spectators above the Whitfords Avenue bridge.
Event organiser, Colin Scott said;
"This is our 45th anniversary and this is the first time we've had something as tragic as this happen,""We feel a lot for this poor family of the people who are severely impacted."
