What began as a birthday celebration in Mubi North Local Government Area ended in tragedy on Friday when a young man was stabbed and killed, allegedly by two of those present at the same gathering.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed in a press release that Friday Isah, 25, was fatally stabbed at a party held in Digil Ward, Mubi North LGA. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Headquarters responded promptly and rushed the victim to a nearby medical facility, but he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
Two suspects have since been arrested in connection with the killing. They are Samson Elisha, 19, of Giye Digil, Mubi North LGA, and Ayuba Stephen, 21, of Dagala Digil, also in Mubi North LGA. Both are residents of the same community as the victim.
Commissioner of Police CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, described the incident as an ugly one and has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of both suspects. The SCID’s involvement signals that the command is treating the matter with the seriousness a culpable homicide case demands.
In the press release signed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Adamawa Police Public Relations Officer, the command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and called on residents to remain law-abiding, urging members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station without delay.
Investigation is ongoing. The matter is now before the SCID, pending arraignment.
