Operation LAFIYA DOLE's Air Task Force (ATF) has neutralized numerous terrorists and demolished their hideouts and logistics systems at Borno State's Tumbuma Baba and Boboshe.

Major General Enenche, Director, Defense Media Operations, said this was done in airstrikes carried out on the first day of action of a new regional operation codenamed "HAIL STORM," which is an activity for an air ban.

It aims to achieve the targets of identified Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the Borno State area of Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest.

According to him, after Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports suggested that many ISWAP fighters and some of their leaders were harboring in some structures concealed under the thick vegetation of the region, the attack at Tumbuma Baba, one of the island settlements on the fringes of the Lake Chad, was carried out.

Enenche reported that fighter jets from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) sent by the ATF to strike the site scored devastating hits on the area, killing many terrorists and damaging their structures.

He said

“several terrorists were similarly neutralized and some of their dwellings destroyed at Boboshe, a village along the river line on the Eastern part of the Sambisa Forest, as the NAF jets took turns in engaging the location”.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, operating in concert with other security agencies and stakeholders, would sustain its efforts to rid the North East of all terrorists and other criminal elements.
