In a bid to enhance security across the nation, the Nigerian Army has initiated a three-day capacity-building training programme for senior officers at the 6th Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
The cadre training aims to improve tactical command and leadership skills, focusing on effective operations planning to better equip officers for their roles.
During the opening remarks, Major General Jamal Abdusallam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6th Division and Commander of the Land Component of the Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, highlighted the necessity for ongoing improvement in tactical-level command and leadership.
He pointed out the rapidly changing security landscape and the imperative for the military to adapt to contemporary challenges such as insurgency, terrorism, and internal security threats.
Major General Abdusallam further emphasised the increasing importance of technology in military operations, particularly in cyberspace, as a critical tool for addressing these emerging threats.
The training, which commenced on September 24, 2024, will focus on modern warfare strategies and operational planning and is set to conclude on September 26, 2024.
