Nottingham Forest Thrashes Brighton 7-0 as Wood Hits Stunning Hat-Trick

Nottingham Forest Crush Brighton 7-0 in Historic Premier League Win
Chris Wood delivered a stunning hat-trick as Nottingham Forest demolished Brighton & Hove Albion 7-0 at the City Ground. This victory comes just a week after Forest suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Bournemouth, making their comeback even more dramatic.
The loss at Vitality Stadium was Forest’s first since December, but they bounced back in style, recording their biggest-ever Premier League win. Brighton, on the other hand, had no answer to Forest’s relentless attacking play.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men wasted no time making an impact. In the 12th minute, Lewis Dunk accidentally turned Morgan Gibbs-White’s low cross into his own net, handing Forest the opening goal.
The home crowd erupted again when Gibbs-White doubled the lead, heading in Anthony Elanga’s precise corner. Brighton struggled to contain Forest’s attacking force, and the pressure paid off again just after the half-hour mark. Wood met another brilliant Elanga cross, nodding it home for his 15th Premier League goal of the season—a personal best.
Brighton had chances to respond before halftime but failed to capitalize. Yankuba Minteh found himself one-on-one with Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, only to fire straight at him. Moments later, Danny Welbeck’s powerful shot struck the underside of the crossbar but never crossed the line, adding to Brighton’s frustration.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler attempted to stop the damage with three halftime substitutions, but Forest remained unstoppable. In the 64th minute, Wood struck again, tapping in another delivery from Elanga to make it 4-0.
Just five minutes later, Tariq Lamptey brought Gibbs-White down in the box during a corner kick. The referee pointed to the spot, giving Wood a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick. The 33-year-old confidently sent Brighton’s goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen the wrong way, sealing his third goal of the night and pushing the score to 5-0.

Forest was far from done. Neco Williams pounced on a loose ball deep in the area and smashed it into the net, making it six. Brighton’s nightmare continued in stoppage time when Jota Silva capitalized on Verbruggen’s misplaced pass, firing home to complete the historic 7-0 rout.
With this emphatic victory, Forest moved level on points with second-placed Arsenal, who face Manchester City on Sunday. Meanwhile, Brighton remains in ninth place, reeling from one of their worst defeats in recent history.
