Powerful Support: NTAC DG Calls for Continued Backing of Tinubu’s Leadership on 64th Independence Anniversary
The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has urged Nigerians to keep supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other national leaders.
He emphasized that such support enables these leaders to perform at their best for the people they serve.
In his Independence Day message on Tuesday in Abuja, Buba congratulated President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, and Nigerians on the country’s 64th anniversary.
Buba highlighted that this anniversary provides a key opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey so far.
He encouraged Nigerians to look ahead, envisioning future achievements for the country.
“At just 64 years since we gained independence from colonial powers, we have valid reasons to celebrate,” Buba stated.
He added that while it’s common to compare Nigeria to other nations, many of those comparisons ignore Nigeria’s unique qualities.
“Our size, diversity of ethnicities, and plurality of religions make us stand out globally,” Buba noted.
“With nearly 250 million people and over 300 ethnic groups speaking more than 400 languages, our diversity offers both opportunities and challenges.”
He stressed that Nigeria’s strength lies in the people’s ability to navigate these differences.
“Managing these complexities is essential for realizing the greatness embedded in our diversity,” Buba said.
Reflecting on the significance of the day, Buba urged Nigerians to think about the nation’s future, focusing on where the country can be in the next 10, 20, or even 50 years.
“Some may argue we’re not where we should be, but such opinions are subjective. At 64, Nigeria remains a success story,” Buba declared.
He also pointed out the critical role of peace in national development. “We know how violence can hinder progress. I encourage us all to commit to peace, for development will naturally follow,” he said.
Buba concluded by calling on Nigerians to support their leaders, noting that countries like Singapore, China, and Rwanda have shown how development flourishes when citizens back their leaders.
“Happy Independence Day, fellow Nigerians! Let’s celebrate this milestone with joy,” Buba concluded.
