Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has praised the recent appointment of Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
He described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Ambassador Mohammed’s extensive experience and exceptional leadership qualities, honed over a career spanning more than three decades.
Hon. Buba highlighted Ambassador Mohammed’s remarkable professional achievements, including his previous roles within NTAC as Acting Director General and Director of Programmes. He emphasized that these positions allowed Ambassador Mohammed to demonstrate his dedication and expertise in serving Nigeria both at home and abroad.
Extending his congratulations on behalf of the NTAC management and staff, Hon. Buba expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for selecting a candidate whose qualifications and experience align perfectly with the demands of the role. He expressed confidence that Ambassador Mohammed will excel in his new position, drawing on his rich background, which includes his most recent role as Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires to Libya.
In a letter personally signed by him and shared with the media on Tuesday in Abuja, Hon. Buba stated:
“Indeed, this new feather to your cap is a resounding testimony to your famed capacity and experience as an outstanding Diplomat, Careerist, top Civil Servant, and, above all, a Distinguished Nigerian. Your years of service to our dear country, including your time with us at the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, have earned you this badge of honour.”
He further added, “As we continue to celebrate this milestone with you and your well-wishers globally, we pray for the wisdom, brilliance, and strength required to meet the expectations of those who have placed their trust in your abilities for this new national assignment.”
Concluding his message, Hon. Buba conveyed his warmest congratulations, stating, “Once again, Your Excellency, Mr. DG, for myself, my family, and on behalf of the Management and staff of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, of which you were a distinguished part, I heartily convey our enormous congratulations on your grand elevation to the seat of DG, NIA. May Allah (SWT) strengthen you for this new task. Amin!”
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed brings to his new role a wealth of experience, having served in various capacities, including positions at the State House in Abuja, in Islamabad, Pakistan, and most recently in Tripoli, Libya. He was appointed to succeed the former NIA Director General, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, following an announcement by the Presidency on Monday.
