Shocking: 32-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Stabbing Barman to Death Over N200
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Riyanatu Musa, for allegedly stabbing a barman, Yohanna Musa, to death following a dispute over a N200 liquor balance.
The tragic incident occurred in Mubi South Local Government Area on January 7, 2025. According to police reports, the suspect, a sex worker, attacked the barman during a heated argument over an unpaid balance for liquor she had taken on credit.
Riyanatu admitted to committing the crime, explaining that she had purchased dry gin, locally referred to as “Big Benz” and “Yahoo,” from the deceased. She claimed to have paid N1,500 out of the total amount owed, leaving a balance of N200. When the barman pressed her for the remaining sum, an altercation ensued, leading her to fatally stab him in the chest with a knife.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), condemned the act, describing it as a heinous crime. He has directed a thorough investigation into the case to ensure justice is served.
In a statement, CP Morris also issued a stern warning to the public, urging citizens to avoid taking the law into their own hands and instead report disputes to the appropriate authorities.
This incident highlights the dire consequences of unresolved conflicts and the need for community members to seek peaceful resolutions in such situations.
