The Adamawa State Police Command has strongly condemned the brazen abduction of Pastor Ishaku D. Chiwar and Reverend James Kwayam of the EYN Church in Billa Malabu.
The pastors were kidnapped in the early hours of December 30, 2024, by armed assailants who stormed their homes at Hayin Gada, Billa Village, in the Malabu district of Fufore Local Government Area.
The attackers, wielding dangerous weapons, invaded the victims’ houses around 2:00 a.m., forcefully whisking them away.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as religious leaders play vital roles in fostering peace and security.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, Psc (+), deployed a team of operatives equipped with operational and manpower resources to track the kidnappers, rescue the pastors, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“This unprovoked act is unacceptable. We are committed to safeguarding lives and combating all forms of violent crimes,” CP Morris said.
A resident, who preferred anonymity, shared their fears. “These attacks are terrifying. We hope the police succeed in rescuing the pastors quickly,” the resident stated.
The police assured the public that progressive efforts were underway, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime.
“The support of the public is critical to our mission to protect lives and property,” a police spokesperson reiterated.
As the manhunt continues, the command appealed for calm, urging citizens to provide any information that could aid in locating the victims and arresting those responsible.
The abduction of religious leaders has drawn widespread condemnation, with many calling for enhanced security measures in vulnerable areas.
Updates on the rescue efforts and investigations will be provided as they develop. The police reaffirmed their resolve to ensure that such heinous acts do not go unpunished, vowing to restore peace and security to the affected community.
