Pastor Adeboye Warns Nigeria Would Crash Without Prayer
Pastor Adeboye has said Nigeria would have collapsed into disaster if not for the power of prayer. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) spoke with quiet conviction during a special Thanksgiving service in Lagos, reminding worshippers that constant intercession holds the nation together.
He described the situation clearly. “Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting — where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop,” he said as the congregation nodded in agreement.
Pastor Adeboye declared that the RCCG operates under divine protection, a supernatural cover that has guarded the church against disaster since it began. He said this divine shield is not seen with the eyes but is deeply felt and clearly proven in times of danger.
“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings,” he stated, sending a clear warning about what prayerlessness could cost Nigeria.
He preached on the theme “Shadow of the Almighty.” His sermon focused on the special grace over RCCG, which he called a living proof of God’s unseen hand. He told stories that stirred emotions and strengthened faith.
“I never preach church or denomination, but there is something peculiar about the Redeemed Christian Church of God. There is a shield over the RCCG — unseen but undeniably present,” he said. His voice was calm but filled with deep assurance.
One of the stories he shared came from the United States. In a street hit by a devastating flood, all 15 houses got soaked — except one. That one house had a sign reading: “House Fellowship of RCCG holds here.” According to Pastor Adeboye, this was no coincidence. “House after house was flooded, but house number eight — the only one with a sign that read, ‘House Fellowship of RCCG holds here’ — remained untouched,” he revealed.
Another miracle, this time in Lagos, added to the message. In March, fire tore through buildings at Otedola Bridge. It destroyed structures before and after an RCCG building — yet, that one church building stood untouched. “The buildings before and after were consumed, yet the RCCG building was left standing. That is not a coincidence — that is divine covering,” he said, as images of the scene were displayed during his message.
Pastor Adeboye told his listeners that divine protection is not always visible, but it works all the time for those who trust God. He said no government or security agency could guarantee lasting peace without God. “Your security is only assured in Him. Whether in peace or war, young or old, the Almighty casts a shadow of protection over His own,” he declared.
Earlier, his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, led passionate prayers for Nigeria and its leaders. With sincerity in her voice, she asked God for mercy and peace for the president. “Let’s ask God to show our president mercy and give him peace, so that he may enjoy his time in office,” she prayed.
The event was not only a spiritual gathering. It also honored Nigeria’s security and paramilitary personnel. The church thanked them for their dedication while urging continued prayer for their safety.
Throughout the service, the message stayed the same — prayer is not just a routine. It’s the rope holding Nigeria together. The stories shared weren’t just inspiring — they were real, emotional, and personal to many.
Pastor Adeboye’s words carried the weight of experience and spiritual confidence. He didn’t focus on headlines or politics. Instead, he offered a message of hope: that prayer still works, miracles still happen, and God still protects His people.
To RCCG members, these signs are not luck. They are signs that God hears when His people cry. To Nigeria, battling insecurity and economic hardship, Pastor Adeboye’s call to keep praying was more than advice — it was a lifeline.
