Powerful Blow! Manchester United Close to Signing €35m Patrick Dorgu

Manchester United are on the verge of securing the signing of Danish left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in a deal worth €35 million (£29m/$36m). The defender was notably absent from Lecce’s starting XI against Parma, fueling speculation about his imminent move to Old Trafford.

Dorgu is set to become the first signing under new United boss Ruben Amorim. The 19-year-old left-back has been a key figure for Lecce this season, featuring in all but one of their Serie A games. However, his omission from the squad on Friday suggests Lecce are preparing for life without him. Sources indicate that Dorgu is expected to fly to Manchester on Saturday morning for a medical before finalizing the transfer ahead of Monday’s deadline.

United have been actively searching for a left-back due to persistent injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw. The defensive gaps have forced manager Amorim to prioritize reinforcements in this position. Dorgu’s arrival is expected to bring much-needed depth and competition to United’s backline.

Despite the excitement surrounding his transfer, Dorgu is unlikely to feature in United’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Instead, he could make his highly anticipated debut in the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Leicester City on February 7.

United fans are eager to see how the promising Danish international will fit into Amorim’s tactical setup. With his pace, defensive awareness, and attacking contributions, Dorgu has the potential to be a game-changer for the Red Devils.

Lecce, meanwhile, will have to fill the void left by their talented full-back as they continue their battle in Serie A. The club’s decision to leave Dorgu out of the squad against Parma may have been a precautionary move to prevent any last-minute injuries before sealing the transfer.

Manchester United’s aggressive approach in the transfer market signals their intent to compete at the highest level. The potential arrival of Dorgu aligns with their long-term vision of strengthening the squad with young and talented prospects.

While fans await official confirmation of the transfer, excitement is building over what Dorgu can bring to the Premier League. If all goes as planned, the 19-year-old will soon be donning the iconic red jersey, ready to make his mark at Old Trafford.
