The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected cyber
fraudster and recovered N2.4 million in proceeds from the illegal
According to DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the image maker for the Adamawa State police command, the alleged fraudster has been defrauding members of the public through the false and untraceable website www.highbet.com.ng.
According to Nguroje, the feat was accomplished by Girei command operatives after thorough due diligence and intelligence gathering.
"The suspect Kelvin Madu 32 years, a resident of Ika Local government, Delta State, has been extorting and defrauding innocent people on e-trading business, through cash deposit to generate higher interest."The commissioner of police Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, PSC, deployed operatives following a report received from the victims of the heinous crime leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
"Findings so far reveal that the suspect has been committing the offense since early February 2021 using an unregistered GSM NO. 09137885655,” the statement said.
He ordered all DPOs to pursue these criminals and stop them from committing crimes.
The suspect will be arraigned in court after the investigation is completed, according to the statement. It also urged residents to be wary of con artists and to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to the police.
