Removal Of Professor Tahir Mamman As Education Minister : Call To Reconsider Decision
Removal of Professor Tahir Mamman as Education Minister: Call to Reconsider Decision.
The Kamwe Youth Connect Association (KYCA) wishes to first of all appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for making an excellent decision to make Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN, OON, serve as education minister in his cabinet for the space of 14 months and 1 week.
The choice was due mainly to the exceptional achievements of Professor Mamman in the education sector, from both public and private universities, and his stewardship at the Nigerian Law School for eight years . Professor Mamman, a pronounced scholar with both national and global recognitions, is no doubt a man of gold standard and perpetual excellence.
With Professor Mamman’s remarkable achievements when he served as Education minister, we are compelled to express our deep concern regarding his removal last week from the cabinet of Mr President.
Mr President, this decision not only affects the Kamwe community but also has far-reaching implications for the entire nation.
Professor Mamman’s exceptional leadership and expertise in the education sector have been exemplary, and his removal sends a worrying signal about Mr President’s commitment to revive the education sector. As a renowned academic and administrator, Professor Mamman has demonstrated his ability to drive positive change and improve the quality of education in the country, positively changing the trajectory in the process.
Mr. President, as you make concerted efforts to deliver on your promise of renewed hope, we urge you to kindly reconsider the decision that led to the removal of Professor Tahir Mamman from your cabinet.
We believe that his continuation as Education Minister will ensure stability and progress in the sector, as education plays a vital role in sustainable national security and economy.
Our Concerns
- Disruption of Education Reforms: The sudden change in leadership may hinder the progress made in education reform, causing uncertainty and instability in the sector.
- Loss of Expertise: Professor Mamman’s removal deprives the ministry of his wealth of experience and knowledge, which is essential for effective policy implementation.
- Lack of Representation: This decision may undermine the representation of marginalised communities, including the Kamwe people, in the federal government.
A Call to Action
We call on all Nigerians, particularly the youth, to join us in advocating for the reinstatement of Prof. Tahir Mamman as Education Minister. Let us work together to ensure that our education sector receives the attention and leadership it deserves.
Thank you.
Kamwe Youth Connect Association (KYCA).
