Tinubu Prioritises Economic Restructuring Over 2027 Election
President Bola Tinubu has emphasised that his immediate focus is not on the upcoming 2027 general elections but on restructuring Nigeria’s economy to benefit its citizens.
This declaration comes as several key figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) rallied behind Tinubu’s re-election bid. Among them were former National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Governors Dapo Abiodun, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji from Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti States also expressed their support for Tinubu’s re-election and for all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The comments were made during the 2024 South West Assembly of the APC, held on Saturday at Victoria Island and hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, who serves as the Zonal Coordinator of the APC.
The assembly gathered a large audience of party leaders and stakeholders from the South-West, including senators, House of Representatives members, State House of Assembly members, local government officials, and top party representatives.
During the event, which marked the first assembly since Tinubu’s presidential victory in 2023, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi delivered the keynote address. He praised the President as a “listening leader” committed to driving success.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain patient with his administration, emphasizing its dedication to genuine progress. The meeting also focused on key issues regarding the continued development of the APC in the South-West Zone.
