Tinubu/Shetima Foundation Warns Protests Will Worsen Nigeria’s Crisis, Urges Constructive Solutions
Tinubu/Shetima Foundation Sounds Alarm: Protests Could Escalate Nigeria’s Crisis, Calls for Urgent Solutions
The Tinubu/Shetima Foundation, led by National Chairman Alh. Yahya Hamanjulde, has spoken out about Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Speaking in Yola during the Foundation’s General Meeting, Hamanjulde expressed concern over the worsening economic conditions.
He urged Nigerians to seek constructive solutions instead of resorting to street protests.
Hamanjulde acknowledged the significant economic hardships but argued that protests might not be the best method to address these issues.
He stressed the need for caution, considering Nigeria’s diverse socio-cultural dynamics, including varying levels of civilization, exposure, and conflicting sentiments around religion and ethnicity.
“We know the economic hardships in Nigeria are driving people to the brink, pushing them to the streets to voice their anguish,” Hamanjulde said.
“Yet, our journey towards progress is impeded by our limited exposure and deep-rooted divisions of religion and ethnicity. These challenges threaten to fragment our efforts, making it difficult to unite for the meaningful change we desperately need.”
The Foundation supports the right to peaceful protest but remains wary of potential negative outcomes. Hamanjulde warned that protests could be hijacked by selfish politicians who might exploit the situation through paid hoodlums, causing chaos and disrupting daily life.
“Peaceful protests are lawful in Nigeria, but our fear is that such actions could stagnate the daily businesses of the poor and worsen their suffering instead of alleviating it,” he said.
Hamanjulde highlighted instances where poorly managed protests turned into chaos and bloodshed, leading to the loss of innocent lives.
The Foundation criticized the Federal Government’s perceived insensitivity towards struggling citizens. Hamanjulde pointed out that more than 85% of the population grapples with basic needs.
Despite these challenges, the Tinubu/Shetima Foundation believes the government is taking steps to address economic difficulties.
Hamanjulde urged Nigerians to be patient and understanding, acknowledging that while government efforts might not yield immediate results, they are essential steps towards long-term stability and prosperity.
“The government is aware of the difficulties and is working to implement measures to cushion the effects of the post-fuel subsidy removal,” Hamanjulde explained.
“These interventions, though currently perceived as ineffective, temporary, and inadequate, are part of a broader strategy to stabilize the economy.”
The Foundation calls on all Nigerians to support constructive dialogue and collaboration with the government.
While the rally organizers lament, “this hunger is too much”, on Thursday, the federal government acknowledged awareness of the planned hunger rally, stating,
“We know the identities of many of the masterminds behind this protest, as well as their collaborators living abroad. The government is taking necessary actions to thwart their subversive plans.”
Hamanjulde urged,
“Let’s join hands to uncover solutions that will bring true relief and lasting development to our cherished homeland. Through our collective effort and mutual understanding, we can face these challenges head-on and emerge stronger and more united as a nation. Now is the time for action, for the future of our country depends on it.”
The National Chairman of the Tinubu/Shetima Foundation, Alh. Yahya Hamanjulde, has also revealed that the current crisis ongoing in the party in Adamawa is as a results of its leadership practicing anti-party where he noted that the now leaders believed those who did anti-party are the valid members of the party, doing away with those who worked towards the victory of the party form Presidential to state Assembly elections.
“This party to my own understanding is about to sink, because we are now in the sinking boat, I don’t know.. If the stakeholders did not come to the rescue of this party, this boat is going t sing soon,” he said
Hamanjulde called on the Nigerian President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu with more emphasis on his Vice President, Kashim Shetima to come to rescue this party in Adamawa State.
APC Stakeholder Raises Concerns Over Party Issues in Adamawa
An APC stakeholder, Hon. Muhammad Hassan Turaki who also was a Former Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly has voiced concerns over the ongoing frictions within the party, warning that these issues could lead to the party’s decline in the region.
The stakeholder criticized the party leadership for excluding members from the Local Government Elections held on July 13. He argued that frequent leadership changes have contributed to the party’s struggles and potential downfall.
Hon. Muhammad Hassan Turaki called on President Tinubu and Vice President Shetima to intervene and address the crisis within the APC in Adamawa State. The stakeholder warned that if the crisis continues, it could spell danger for the party’s future prospects.
He also condemned planned protests, noting that they could escalate into uncontrollable situations. He urged Nigerians to pray for the country’s recovery and better governance.
Since May of the year 2023, Adamawa State APC has faced internal discord when Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani won the governorship primary, leading to disputes and a federal high court verdict that nullified her candidacy. This turmoil has further strained the party’s unity.
Hon. Phanuel Mosu, Vice Chairman of the Tinubu/Shetima Foundation, warned that the party’s national leadership must act swiftly to rescue the party from its current trajectory. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and appreciating grassroots efforts to maintain party cohesion and effectiveness.
As Nigeria faces significant economic and political challenges, leaders like Hamanjulde and concerned stakeholders within the APC advocate for constructive dialogue, patience, and unity.
By focusing on collaborative solutions and avoiding disruptive protests, they believe Nigeria can navigate its current difficulties and work towards a more stable and prosperous future.
Another party stakeholder, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama who also lend a voice to the press revealed the the problem of the party majorly started when the Party’s Governorship candidate cling the ticket at the primaries in 2023, noting that due some powers from “the former government and the current government”, they refuse to allow Aishatu Binani to get hold of the Governors seat in the state.
He bitterly expressed “The state of APC is now the state of PDP”.
