Tony Elumelu Foundation Opens Applications for 2025 Entrepreneurship Programmes
The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has officially opened applications for its highly anticipated 2025 Entrepreneurship Programmes, offering aspiring and existing entrepreneurs across Africa the chance to receive world-class training, expert mentoring, and non-refundable seed capital to scale their businesses.
Applications opened on January 1, 2025, and will close on March 1, 2025. The foundation encourages early submissions to ensure applicants meet the deadline.
The flagship TEF Entrepreneurship Programme is available to all African entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas or existing businesses that are no more than five years old. This year, there is a special focus on businesses leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and green initiatives. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to qualify.
Additionally, the Foundation has announced the continuation of the IYBA-WE4A Entrepreneurship Programme, launched in partnership with the European Union (EU) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). This programme, exclusively for women entrepreneurs, targets green business ideas or existing businesses in countries like Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, and Togo.
For young entrepreneurs in Rwanda, the Aguka Ideation Entrepreneurship Programme, organised in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Rwanda and the Rwandan Ministry of Youth and Arts, supports entrepreneurs aged 18-30. This initiative offers seed capital of $3,000 to nurture and develop innovative business ideas into sustainable enterprises.
Applications for all programmes must be submitted through TEF’s proprietary digital hub, TEFConnect.
Since its inception in 2015, the Tony Elumelu Foundation has empowered over 2.5 million young Africans through training on TEFConnect and disbursed over $100 million in direct funding to more than 21,000 African entrepreneurs. Collectively, these entrepreneurs have created over 800,000 jobs and generated over $4.2 billion in revenue.
